Why Legends Of Tomorrow Deserves A Proper Ending

With its ratings on the rise before a cliffhanger episode that brought Booster Gold into the Arrowverse, Legends of Tomorrow demands a series finale. The CW’s time-traveling superhero series Legends of Tomorrow, which was recently canceled after seven seasons and a cliffhanger ending, deserves a true series finale. Thankfully, there is little to stop HBO Max from stepping in to revive the series for one final season or produce a Legends of Tomorrow movie to properly end their story. If nothing else, a comic book written by the series writers could also provide a proper sense of closure for the many Legends of Tomorrow fans who were disappointed by the cancellation.

The events of Legends of Tomorrow season 7 found the titular team trapped in the past, after their time-ship, the Waverider, was destroyed by another time-ship. Hilarity ensued as the Legends discovered their unseen enemy was a demented copy of the artificial intelligence Gideon, who had determined that the Legends were a threat to the natural order and had to die. Teaming with Dr. Gwyn Davies (Matt Ryan), the first scientist to build a working time machine, the Legends were able to retreat into the time stream but were still outgunned by the far more ruthless and powerful Evil Gideon.

This conflict culminated in the Legends of Tomorrow season 7 finale, where the Legends defeated Evil Gideon and claimed a rebuilt Waverider for themselves, only to lose their time-ship yet again after it was stolen by a man named Mike (Donald Faison). The episode ended with Mike returning to the Legends, seemingly feeling guilty over what he had done but really acting as bait for a trap. The agents of an unidentified law enforcement agency swooped in and arrested the Legends for time crimes, as it was revealed that Mike was the time-traveling superhero Booster Gold.
