The Harry Potter Franchise Needs a Cursed Child Film to Survive, Says Analyst

Speaking to The Wrap Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock commented that Warner Bros. cinematic adaption of the J.K. Rowlings novels should look to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for the big screen. Theres still a lot of directions that Warner could take the Wizarding World in the long term but right now they need to get back to what people like most about it and thats Harry said Bock. Whether its a Cursed Child adaptation or something else the next project should be something closer to the books that builds an appetite for a spinoff that can really branch out the way the first Fantastic Beasts did.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play written by Jack Thorne from a story created by Rowling. It features the return of several beloved characters from the original books including Harry Ron and Hermione 19 years after the climactic events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The narrative focuses on Harry and his son Albus Severus who ends up creating chaos by misusing the powerful Time Turner device to prevent Cedric Diggory from dying at the hands of Voldemort.

While Cursed Child received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike Warner Bros. has yet to confirm any kind of film adaptation. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has noted that he has no interest in returning to the franchise stating that he feels comfortable where hes at with his career. Im getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and Im really happy with where I am now and to go back would be such a massive change to my life Radcliffe explained. Im never going to say never but the Star Wars guys had like 30 40 years before they went back. For me its only been 10. Its not something Im really interested in doing right now.

Conversations surrounding Harry Potters future have been swirling amid Fantastic Beasts The Secrets of Dumbledores lackluster box office performance. The film currently holds the record for worst opening numbers in the entire franchise which reportedly is prompting Warner Bros. to reconsider the series. Fantastic Beasts was intended to span five films but diminishing returns have sparked concerns that the fourth and fifth films may never see the light of day.
