Suicide Squad: Jared Leto Joker Makeup Test Images Show Early Concept

Several new images of Jared Letos Joker in Suicide Squad reveal early looks for the character. Directed by David Ayer the 2016 Warner Bros. film was the first villain centric project for the DCEU. Aside from Task Force X Suicide Squad also debuted the franchises Clown Prince of Crime played by Leto. There was so much anticipation for the actors take on the iconic bad guy but his appearance ended up being one of the biggest disappointments of the film.

Knowing how popular the Joker is the marketing for Suicide Squad largely focused on his role in the film. Unfortunately his involvement wasnt anything more than a glorified cameo. He barely had any ties to the story aside from his relationship with Harley Quinn Margot Robbie. Arguably the Joker couldve been nixed from the blockbuster and it wouldnt have had any significant impact on the story. But apparently the Clown Prince of Crime was meant to have longer screentime hence why they were so meticulous in nailing the characters look in the flick.Shared by the Twitter account The Ayer Cut is a string of new images from Suicide Squads post production. Per the tweet they were taken for Letos make up screen test as Joker. The photos have been shared by makeup and hair designer Alessandro Bertolazzi who worked on the flick. Check out the pictures below

Leto reprised his role as the Joker in Zack Snyders Justice League but only during its post credits sequence. Since then its been unclear if theres a chance for him to once again revisit the part. He has recently debuted as another comic book character albeit a Marvel one in Sony Pictures Morbius which is part of the studios efforts to establish their own Spider Man franchise. While theres still no word when hell appear again as the Living Vampire chances are that hes going to be incorporated one way or another into the budding universe. That being said it doesnt necessarily stop him from revisiting the Joker. While Warner Bros. currently has a couple of other iterations of the character DCs multiverse will allow him to return and factor in any upcoming DCEU project in the future.

Its uncertain if the release of these new photos is an indication that theres movement in the Release the Ayer Cut campaign a petition that demands Warner Bros. to roll out the filmmakers intended vision for the film. Or its just a fun thing to share for Bertolazzi. The studio mandated reshoots resulted in Suicide Squad being significantly changed which included drastically trimming down Jokers supposed role. Ayer has been vocal about his support for the actor saying that he feels that he was treated unfairly considering how much time and effort he put in preparing to play the iconic villain.
