While the release of The Witcher Season 3 is likely still a ways off the Netflix series writers and producers are already laying the groundwork for Season 4.During an interview with Brigade Radio One Stephen Surjik who directed the first two episodes of The Witcher Season 2 confirmed he would be doing the same for Season 3. Furthermore he confirmed Season 4 was in the planning stages though admitted he isnt sure if those plans involve him. The writers and producers mapped out Season 4 Surjik said. I dont know if Im part of that mapping program but at least they told me that theyre mapping it out.
Based on the series of novels of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski which was previously adapted into a series of popular video games Netflixs The Witcher stars Henry Cavill and Freya Allan in the lead roles of Geralt of Rivia and Ciri respectively. The series premiered its eight episode first season on Dec. 20. 2019. As a result of extensive delays stemming from the coronavirus COVID 19 pandemic it would be quite some time before the second season saw the light of day. The Witcher Season 2 finally dropped its eight episodes on Netflix on Dec. 17. 2021.
In September 2021 two months before Season 2 released Netflix officially renewed The Witcher for Season 3. Netflix confirmed that cameras had started rolling on Season 3 as of this past April. While the streaming giant has yet to officially green light a fourth season it seems as though the shows crew is fairly confident one will be ordered.Beyond the mothership series Netflix released an animated spinoff film The Witcher Nightmare of the Wolf on Aug. 13 2021. Meanwhile a live action prequel series The Witcher Blood Origin is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime this year. An additional family friendly animated spinoff is also in the works.
