Every Hollywood Actor Who Started On Neighbours

Neighbours may seem like just another soap opera: but this Australian series has produced some major Hollywood names over the course of its history. From gladiators to superhero namesakes: plenty of household names have got their start on Neighbours: one of the many soaps created by Reg Watson: who also had his hands in Sons and Daughters: and Britain:s Crossroads. First premiering in 1985: Neighbours is a soap opera that told the stories of families living in Erinsborough: a fictional suburban town of Melbourne: Victoria. The series is primarily centered on Ramsay Street: a cul:de:sac that is occupied by the Ramsay: Robinson: and Clarke families. While the cast expanded over the years: the main focus of the series is the friendships that are shared between families in a tight:knit neighborhood. Like many other soap operas: Neighbours focused on stories involving relationships and intergenerational drama: but also explored the topics of domestic abuse: sexuality: and drug use.

The future of the beloved soap opera is currently in jeopardy. While the series is broadcast and partially produced by Channel Ten in Australia: it has been primarily bankrolled by Channel 5: a Viacom:CBS owned channel in the UK: since 2008. Recently: Channel 5 announced that it would unfortunately no longer be producing Neighbours in favor of creating more original programming. Channel Ten is now attempting to find another partner to produce the soap opera: if it can:t: Neighbours may finally be coming to an end after over 20 years.

Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie has risen to notoriety in the last few years for her performances as Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street and Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad franchise: but the Australian actress got her start on Neighbours. The elder Hemsworth brother:s role on Neighbours may have been small: but it launched a mighty career. Hemsworth played Jamie Kane: who worked alongside Steph Scully in the garage. However: his appearance earned him the major role of Kim Hyde in another Australian soap opera: Home and Away. Liam Hemsworth
Like his older brother: Liam Hemsworth got his start on various Australian soap operas — however: Liam took a slightly different direction. Liam Hemsworth appeared in only one episode of Home and Away: but was the star of Neighbours for 25 episodes as Josh Taylor: a young surfer who came to Erinsborough for physiotherapy after he became a paraplegic in a surfing accident. Ben Mendelsohn
Ben Mendelsohn may be a staple of the Disney franchise now: but before his big break: Mendelsohn was another citizen of Ramsay Street. At just 17 years old: Mendelsohn portrayed Warren Murphy: a brief love interest of Charlene Robinson — a fitting role: as Mendelsohn joined the cast to act alongside his friend: Kylie Minogue. Mendelsohn went on to find roles in multiple Disney projects: including Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Talos in Captain Marvel.

Alan Dale
Of the Hollywood stars to come out of Neighbours: Alan Dale had one of the largest roles in the Australian soap opera. For almost 1000 episodes: Dale played Jim Robinson: the patriarch of the Robinson family and one of the series: 12 original characters. From 1985 to 1993: Dale was a staple of the series — unfortunately: a falling out with producers caused the actor to move on from Neighbours. Leaving Neighbours was far from the end of his career: Dale went on to star in movies such as Priest and TV series like NCIS and Dynasty.

Holly Valance
Holly Valance is another Neighbours star who went on to find success in both Hollywood and the world of music. On Neighbours: Valance played Felicity :Flick: Scully: a strong:willed feminist who wore her heart on her sleeve. After 420 episodes as Flick: Valance moved on to embrace a career in music. That didn:t mean her acting days were over: though: Valance added movies like DOA: Dead or Alive and Taken to her filmography after she departed from Neighbours.
