Batwoman Cast React to DC TV Shows Cancellation

As The CW has officially cancelled Batwoman after season 3 several cast members of the Arrowverse drama react to the DC TV shows cancellation.

Batwoman stars react to the official news of The CW cancelling the DC TV series after season 3. The 20212022 TV season became an emotional rollercoaster for longtime Arrowverse fans. In previous years The CW has renewed most of its Arrowverse slate as the franchise has been some of the networks most popular dramas. Past seasons have seen the network give early renewals to most of its longrunning dramas which include Greg Berlantis DC TV shows. This year however came with some unexpected results.

In January 2022 it was confirmed that WarnerMedia and Paramount were officially looking to sell The CW which launched in 2006. Due to this development The CW ended up being late with their renewal and cancelation process which included the Arrowverse franchise. Even major DC IPs like The Flash and Superman & Lois had to wait to learn their fates until the network officially renewed them both for another season in March. However Batwoman was one of the three DC TV dramas that were officially in the bubble joining DC TV shows like Legends of Tomorrow and Naomi. After finishing season 3 in March The CW cancelled Batwoman late last week.

Following Batwomans official cancelation which was announced by showrunner and executive producer Caroline Dries several cast members of the DC drama have reacted to the unfortunate news. As fans have shared their thoughts on the Batwoman season 3 ending Javicia Leslie Ryan Wilder/Batwoman Meagan Tandy Sophie Moore Nicole Kang Mary Hamilton Camrus Johnson Luke Fox/Batwing Rachel Skarsten Alice and Nick Creegan Marquis Jet all posted on their respective social media accounts about the announcement thanking fans who supported the series.

Batwoman premiered in October 2019 with Ruby Rose as Kate Kane for season 1. After Batwoman season 1 Rose exited the series and has since made allegations of poor onset treatment against both Warner Bros. and the showrunner at the time. Roses exit led to Leslie taking over as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman. This was the first time that an Arrowverse show not only lost its main character after one season but created an original character to take over going forward. While Batwoman only lasted for 51 episodes the DC drama was later critically praised for its representation of actors of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Batwoman wont be the only Arrowverse show that isnt returning next year as The CW also cancelled Legends of Tomorrow after season 7.

While Batwoman has come to an end its not necessarily the last time fans may see those characters in the Arrowverse. The Flash season 8 started with a special fivepart event titled Armageddon which brought Leslies Batwoman into the fold for the first time. Even when an Arrowverse series concludes characters can still guest star on other ongoing shows. If an appropriate story arises perhaps some of the Batwoman characters will pop up on The Flash season 9 or even Superman & Lois season 3. But until that happens Batwoman season 3 will sadly be the last time fans see those Arrowverse characters for the foreseeable future.
