Im A Celebrity Every contestant to quit the show and why

It comes as this years campmate, Naughty Boy appears to be debating whether or not to leave

The production of Im A Celebrity this year has had a torrid time of it its fair to say. TV legend Richard Madeley was forced to quit the show due to a sudden illness, although thankfully he later reassured fans that he was fine and taken to hospital ‘as a precaution’. Then last Friday Storm Arwen arrived in North Wales, the storm closed roads and caused a lot of damage as the unrelenting winds and high gales took hold. Abergeles Gwrych Castle remained untouched, however the same could not be said for ITV’s production set which was destroyed subsequently cancelling the show for the first time in it’s 20 year tenure. I’m A Celebrity returned to our screens last night for the first time since Friday, and all seemed well and good, a return to normality.

At the end of the show Ant and Dec revealed the next celeb to face the Bushtucker trial Naughty Boy. Naughty Boy has repeatedly suggested leaving the show to fellow campmates, feeling his time here is done and also saying he misses his mother who has dementia. The prospect of another Bushtucker trial certainly wont embolden Naughty Boy, who had complete dread etched across his face when the Geordie duo called out his name. Could we be about to see another celebrity leave this year’s I’m A Celebrity. Well, it certainly wont be the first time, and probably won’t be the last. According to The Mirror, the stars have to stay in the jungle castle for 72 hours in order to receive full pay. If contestants leave before then they risk a hefty cut to their pay cheque. Here we take a look at every celebrity that has ever quit the show

Danniella Westbrook Series 2

Despite being a popular candidate for winning the Eastenders star found the environment traumatic and missed her children. She quit the show after nine days.

John Lydon Series 3

The Sex Pistols singer made headlines for referring to viewers as when they didnt vote him off. He left as he thought he was going to eventually win the show and didn’t want to turn into Des O Connor. Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren is the only person to withdraw from the one show before even entering the jungle.

Brian Harvey Series 4

The former East 17 singer walked out after a spat with Janet Street Porter over dinner in which she criticised his etiquette flatulence.

Natalie Appleton Series 4

The second star to leave Series 4 was All Saints singer Natalie Appleton. She was repeatedly voted to do Bushtucker trials and it all got too much, so she eventually decided to leave.

Kimberley Davies Series 5

Ex Neighbours star Davies was the first celebrity to be forced to quit. After sustaining an injury in a trial she left the show.

Elaine Lordan Series 5

The Eastenders star didn’t make it till day two, as she collapsed twice on the first day which forced her to quit the show.

Camilla Dallerup Series 9

The ballroom dancer was the first casualty of Series 9. Dallerup repeatedly broke down in tears in the camp as she struggled to cope with the jungle conditions, as it finally became too much for her and she screamed I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Katie Price Series 9

Katie Price still remains the only celebrity to appear twice as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity. She went in and was repeatedly picked for trials by the public. She left early feeling she ‘had found closure’ from ex-husband Peter Andre who she first met on the show in 2004.

George Hamilton Series 9

Hamilton, 70 at the time, was the third celebrity to leave Series 9. He left due to the conditions and felt that due to his age he was no longer able to help out around camp or participate in trials.

Nigel Havers Series 10

Havers provided a memorable exit from the show during a trial. The trial saw contestants given electric shocks if they got questions wrong. I’m not up for it, I don’t do electric shocks so I’m leaving he said at the time.

Freddie Starr Series 11

The comedian famous for ‘Freddie Starr ate my hamster’ had the nation’s attention when he participated in an eating trial opposite Mark Wright. Starr demolished each course with ease, actually eating more than he was supposed to on one occasion. He later had to withdraw due to ill health and was taken to hospital.

Brian Conley Series 12

Comedian Brian Conley started well on the show. However he had to withdraw for mental health reasons. Conley had stopped taking his antidepressants for the first time in 15 years, and described his ordeal as a ‘living hell’.

Gemma Collins Series 14

Essexs most iconic resident lasted just three days inside the jungle. She left in a flood of tears, claiming that she just couldnt go on.

Craig Charles Series 14

Red Dwarf and Coronation Street Star Craig Charles was one of the favourites in 2014. Unfortunately his brother passed away back home and after producers informed him of the terrible news he decided to leave.

Spencer Matthews Series 15

The Made In Chelsea star was thrown off the programme for demanding steroids from producers. Matthews revealed an addiction to the drug, and spoke of his actions as ‘an error of judgement.

Lady Colin Campbell Series 15

Lady C is perhaps the most notorious contestant to ever take part on I’m A Celebrity. She was never afraid to speak her mind and clashed with almost every other contestant, particularly Duncan Bannatyne and Tony Hadley. She later left the jungle on medical grounds.

Jack Maynard 2017

Ant and Dec shocked viewers by revealing that YouTube star Maynard had left the show. It was later revealed that the reason was due to a series of racist and homophobic tweets he’d sent in the past. The Mirror then reported that he had also previously been messaging an underage girl.

Richard Madeley 2021

The latest celebrity to be forced to quit the show is this year’s Richard Madeley. A hugely popular figure in and outside the castle, Madeley was forced to quit on medical grounds. He said I started to feel briefly unwell in the small hours of the morning and was taken to hospital as a precaution.By leaving the camp I had consequently broken the Covid bubble and as such Ive had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebs that remain in the camp.
