They’re throwing it back to 1850.
The Vampire Diaries and Grey’s Anatomy’s finest are teaming up! Former TVD star Nina Dobrev and ex-Grey’s doctor Eric Dane appear in the new period drama Redeeming Love, where we see them several decades away from the characters we got to know them as.
Nina – who played Elena Gilbert in The CW hit – and Eric – who starred as Dr Mark Everett Sloan (aka McSteamy) on the long-running ABC medical drama – are actually playing characters living in 1850 in the movie, which is based on the bestselling book by Francine Rivers.
A new trailer has dropped to show us exactly what we can expect from the film, which you can check out for yourself above. It shows Nina looking almost unrecognisable as Mae, while Eric stars as Duke, who we see travelling on a horse-drawn carriage.
But they’re not the only big names lending the movie their star power. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Fate: The Winx Saga star Abigail Cowen appears as Angel alongside Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Logan Marshall Green, while X-Men’s Famke Janssen rounds out the cast.
If you’ve not read the book yet (spoiler alert!) the movie tells the story of Angel, who survived being sold into prostitution when she was a child. When she meets Michael, she finally sees that she’s able to life a different life to the one she’s known her whole life, as she attempts to overcome the self-loathing that developed from her extremely difficult childhood.
Eric’s latest project comes after the star had a reunion with not one, but two of his former Grey’s co-stars, Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers, earlier this year.
Ellen shared all the proof of the unexpected get-together to her Instagram Stories, sharing a video of her and Eric playing around alongside ex Alex Karev actor Justin Chambers.
