It’s official: Peaky Blinders season six is on its way and it won’t be long until we get to see it, going by the latest announcement.
The Peaky Blinders Twitter account posted a tweet announcing the series will be returning “early” next year, alongside a video showing Cillian Murphy back in his Tommy Shelby coat and cap walking down a dark, cobbled street with a large bag in his hand.
Back in the summer, Conrad Khan – who is joining Peaky Blinders for series six – hinted that the sixth and final season wasn’t too far away, even speculating that we could see it in February.
Khan, who has joined the show for this last series told Radio Times: “That comes out, from what I last heard – I mean, these things change so quickly – I think that will come out next February, the beginning of next year,” he explained.
“There was so much footage, so many episodes, that it does take a while to edit – six months or something.”
Following the final series, there will be a movie that will wrap up the story of Tommy Shelby and the family, which will go into production in 2023.
The drama’s creator Steven Knight revealed during a panel at the BFI London Film Festival last month that there is a plan now editing of the final series is almost done.
“And then I am going to write the feature, which will be set in and shot in Birmingham.
“That will probably be the sort of the end of the road for Peaky Blinders as we know it.”
