Katarina Rostova remains one of the mysteries that have kept fans glued to The Blacklist. Some things about her though, make very little sense.
Katarina Rostova, a woman so feared that mentioning her name in the wrong place would get you in trouble, remains one of the mysteries that have kept fans glued to The Blacklist for seven seasons. She is expected to reveal her claws better in the eighth season, but there are still too many things that don’t add up about her.
5 Why Does She Want To Kill Illya Koslov?
When Katarina Rostova came in Season 7 of The Blacklist, she tried to kill Reddington, which didn’t make sense because Red didn’t seem to hate her. She then went ahead to kidnap Illya Koslov, who was supposed to be her childhood friend and the person that helped her escape from her woes.
From the facts we have so far, Illya did nothing short of what was best for Katarina and her family, except try to kill her, but that was on Dom’s orders. Katarina didn’t care when she performed the procedure that hurt Illya while trying to extract his memories, causing him hallucinations. So, why does this Katarina Rostova seem to have lost touch with everything and everyone from her past?
4 Why Does She Want To Kill Reddington?
From the first season, fans had the impression that Katarina and Red would make a powerful team of invincible criminal masterminds, not the worst of enemies. The Blacklist has never revealed the exact nature or Reddington’s relationship with the real Reddington except that they had an affair and later a child. Katarina helped this Reddington take her lover’s identity, which would make them partners in crime.
When Katrina faked her death by walking into the sea, Reddington watched it happen, meaning they were together at the beach. If they were happy with each other, Red helping Katarina and protecting her daughter with his life as he has so far, why are they enemies now?
3 Why Doesn’t Anyone Seem To Recognize Her?
Katarina Rostova is supposed to be the female version of Raymond Reddington with a history so great that intelligence agencies shiver at the mention of her name. The people with the closest connection to her were Dom, Red, and Illya Koslov, all of whom don’t seem to recognize this Katarina. When Dom saw her, despite being sick, he didn’t seem to have that face of a father that has seen his daughter.
Reddington has also dismissed her as a delusional woman that wants to take advantage of Liz and nothing more. According to the timelines, she is supposed to have been gone for 30 years. Still, someone should at least be able to identify her, which raises the question, is the woman fighting with Reddington really Katarina Rostova?
2 What Does Katarina Want From Liz?
When you abandon your daughter for 30 years and come back after she has become a mother, a widow, and also an excellent FBI agent, you should at least show some remorse. Assuming that Katarina’s enemies are as powerful as the show has made everyone believe, then staying hidden would be her best play.
Coming into Liz’s life now only makes her a target to everyone that wants to hurt Katarina. If Katarina chose to protect her family by hiding for 30 years, what does she want now? Why come when her enemies seem to be more powerful than they were when she fled? The only explanation is that she has thrown caution to the wind and decided to let all hell loose down on poor Liz and her daughter.
1 Who Is She Working For?
When Katarina kidnapped Reddington in Paris, she obviously wanted something from him if not sell him out to one of his many enemies. As Reddington feared, Katarina seems to be enjoying the protection of someone powerful if you look at her network of operatives and weapons she is using.
She seems to be looking for some information. She is determined enough to torture and kill her family to get it, which begs the question, who would be powerful enough to turn a woman against her family and friends after she gave up everything to protect them. The biggest question is whether Katarina is family or a Blacklister that needs to be taken down.
