‘Supergirl’ Star Melissa Benoist Creates Her Own Production Company, Three Things

Benoist formed Three Things Productions and has chosen Anonymous Content creative executive, Sahar Kashi, to come on board as the Vice President of Development. Kashi has previously worked for Netflix on Thirteen Reasons Why and Apple TV Plus’ Home Before Dark. This is Benoist’s first multi-year deal, and while there’s no information on why she is getting into production, it seems that she has a lot of fans, including Kashi.

Moving from acting to producing is like taking off one hat and putting on another, something Benoist alludes to when discussing her new production company. Instead of being a character in front of the camera, she’ll be behind the camera making sure that one scene flows just right and works well with the overall feel of the shows she’ll be creating.

While no reason has officially been given on the reason behind this new career move for Benoist, if the new VP of Development is to be believed, the whole premise of these two starting a production company from the ground up is as simple as how well they work together.

It could also be a simple a reason as, after six years playing the same part, the actress wanted to try an entirely new challenge.

“I’ve had a wonderfully supportive home at Warner Bros. for the last six years,” Benoit said, “and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to put on a producer’s hat and continue working with them.”

She continued: “I approach my work as an actor in search of that magic gut feeling you get when you know something is right. I plan on following those instincts as a producer, approaching each story with passion, playfulness, curiosity, a sure-footed step, and like all things worth taking a risk on, a hint of terror. I can’t wait to collaborate with new voices and find stories that hit the heart in that indefinable way.”

Benoist will reportedly work on drama and comedy shows for the likes of HBO Max, third party streamers and cable television and broadcasting nets.
