Lucifer Season 6: What To Expect

With Lucifer season 5B now out on Netflix, Lucifer still has one more season that is coming, which will be the end for the DC-Vertigo drama.

Following the end of Lucifer season 5 in its entirety, what can fans expect to see in Lucifer season 6? After a long wait for the major conclusion to Lucifer season 5, the Netflix drama ended on a massive note. But despite the conclusion, there is still one more season to go for the Tom Ellis drama. Thanks to Netflix, Lucifer got its longevity extended following the broadcast network’s decision to cancel the series after three seasons.

By the time Lucifer season 6 comes out on Netflix, this will become Warner Bros. TV’s longest-running Vertigo-based show. Currently, The CW’s iZombie, which ended in August 2019, holds that title, at least for now. As Lucifer season 5, part 2 finished with perhaps its biggest ending of all time, the expectations are high for Lucifer season 6.

At this point, DC FanDome 2021 seems like the ideal event that will unveil new information for Lucifer season 6. Due to the fact that Lucifer season 5, part 2 released in May 2021, it makes sense that details are limited. Until then, here’s everything known about Lucifer season 6 in terms of story details, what the cast will look like, and when it will release.

Lucifer Season 6 Renewal

Originally, Netflix had renewed Lucifer for a fifth and final season in June 2019, but in February 2020, word got out that Netflix and Warner Bros. TV were in talks to try and make Lucifer season 6 happen. By May 2020, they had finally gotten Ellis to reprise Lucifer after he signed on for an additional season. As all the main cast members were officially on board, Netflix announced in June 2020 that Lucifer season 6 would be the show’s final season.

Lucifer Season 6 Cast

As of right now, Lucifer season 6 will see Ellis, Lauren German, D. B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez back as Lucifer Morningstar, Detective Chloe Decker, Amenadiel, Mazikeen, Dr. Linda Martin, Ella Lopez, and Trixie Espinoza, respectively. The only major difference to the cast line-up is the loss of Detective Dan Espinoza, who was killed off in Lucifer season 5, part 2. Whether or not they will add a new series regular or not remains to be seen.

Lucifer Season 6 Story

Following the end of Lucifer season 5, part 2, Lucifer is the new God as he defeated Michael. The final season will tackle Lucifer’s new celestial role, which is bound to be a huge game-changer. Even though Lucifer season 5 consisted of 16 episodes total, the sixth and final season was given a 10-episode order. Lucifer season 6 will also explore Lucifer and Chloe’s romance from a new angle due to his celestial promotion. Inbar Lavi revealed through social media Eve will be back in Lucifer season 6 in some capacity, likely to continue her story with Maze.

One of Dan’s final gifts to his loved ones before his death was to help get Amenadiel into the Police Academy. Lucifer season 6 will introduce two recurring guest stars as Merrin Dungey plays Sonya, who will be part of Amenadiel’s story. Brianna Hildebrand will play the angel Rory, who hopes to follow in Lucifer’s devilish footsteps. Lastly, after their set up in season 5, part 2, Lucifer season 6 will officially see Scott Porter’s Carol Corbett back, the officer that Dan was trying to set Ella up with.

Lucifer Season 6 Release Date Info

Since Lucifer season 6 wrapped production in late March 2021, they are most likely still in the midst of post-production. Due to Netflix having released Lucifer season 5, part 2 in Q2, it will most likely be a couple of months until they drop the final season. If it doesn’t get released sometime in Q4, it most likely means that Lucifer season 6 won’t premiere until sometime in 2022. But as the global pandemic is slightly making things easier again and the fact they have fewer episodes, it’s possible Lucifer season 6 will arrive on Netflix near the end of 2021.
