Here’s Why The Cast Of ‘Friends’ Had A Firm Pact Not To Date One Another

The boys on the set seemed to struggle to uphold this pact, but the girls don’t even remember this being a ‘thing.’

The cast of Friends is all over the headlines, and as the reunion show is set to stream, there are some little secrets about the show that are popping up, much to the delight of their adoring fans.

One of the tidbits of information that has just risen to the surface is the fact that the cast had a pact not to become anything more than ‘friends’, and the story behind this fun topic is sure to stir up
some seriously fun laughs.

The Pact

The cast of Friends sat down with Kit Hoover from Access Hollywood, and they dished the dirt about some behind-the-scenes details that fans had absolutely no idea about. Interestingly, they stumbled across this topic, and the ladies in the cast had no idea about it either!’

David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry seem to recall there being a pact about not dating anyone on set.

In fact, they remember it very, very clearly.

They were able to reminisce about the fact that they had declared dating one another as being completely taboo, and were focused on ensuring the success of the show. Keeping extracurricular relationships out of the equation seemed like the right thing to do to ensure there would never be any complications at work.

A Difference Of Opinion

The ‘no dating’ pact seems like a decent one to implement, especially considering the nature of their workplace and the intense manner in which each character had to work so closely with the others.

When Kit asked the boys if any of them had ever actually dated any of the ladies from the cast, they all seemed to remember the pact and seemed in agreement that this was out of the question. They did allude to the fact that it was a tough rule to follow through, and with the likes of Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Courteney Cox in question, it’s easy to see why that was the case. Matthew Perry held the answer as to why they held back though, as he said to Kit; “It was really important to the six of us that we kept a friendship.”

The crazy part of this is that the ladies had no recollection of this pact ever being made in the first place, and they laughed off the entire situation as a comedic joke.

They were so clearly not aware of it, and sadly for the men on the show, they didn’t seem tempted by the idea of dating their co-stars whatsoever. In fact, Lisa Kudrow very sarcastically rubbed this in by saying; “As much as it hurt to enforce it, yeah, there was a ‘pact’.”
